Off the Scale

How gay am I for the new season of American Idol? In the past I've been extraordinarily gay for it, but since I've seen the 24 kids they're paring down to 12 for the official season, I'm going to need a new wardrobe of gym shorts and tank tops because I have gone completely Richard Simmons for AI.

In a typical season there are two great singers, maybe, and a total of five or six good performers. This year there are at least four excellent singers and most if not all of the top 12 will be capable of stunning performances each and every week. Katharine, Elliot, Paris and Sway are going to be unbelievable, and Lisa, Taylor, Ayla, Ace and even Kevin and Brenna are going to be fun to watch.

UPDATE: Fantastic AI separated at birth pics here (love the last two) and a video roundup of Simon's worst insults here. I could have sworn I heard him be more ruthless, but who knows.

I have missed all the episodes save the opening qualifiers which is also amusing and possibly the best part of the show even though that folks are now pandering their crappy skills for 15 minutes of fame. One stand out and most likely will not make all the way but a favorite anyway due to her broken home lifestyle is "Pickering"? She is very cute and down to earth so I hope she is still in it and goes far. She deserves something good in her life after the crap hand she has been dealt in life. Normally you would see these types in the strip clubs spouting how they need money to attend medical school....so pick Pickering!.

Pick Pickler! I was on her jock early but for some reason her schitck is annoying me now, like I wonder if she's not faking the psychic agony even if the story is technically true. Or maybe I just hated the country song she wrung the life out of.

I can't believe anyone could possibly like Pickler. Yes, she is an adorable little thing and beloved by many males for her down-home screw-ability, but her talent is lacking incredibly. That performance last night only proved that. I think Ayla has the potential to do really well and is the true sleeper in this competition.
